Get a QuoteVenetian plaster is a decorative wall finish made from slaked lime and crushed marble. Originating in Venice and perfected during the Renaissance, it was developed as a way to replicate the look of polished natural stone on interior surfaces.
Thin layers of plaster are applied by hand with a steel trowel, each layer adding translucency, colour variation, and dimension. As the layers are burnished and compressed, the marble particles create a natural sheen — from a soft satin glow to a deep, mirror-like polish.
Unlike paint, Venetian plaster becomes part of the wall itself. It's breathable, naturally antimicrobial, and extraordinarily durable — surfaces applied centuries ago in Italian palazzos still look beautiful today.
